I noticed a vacant house yesterday about a mile away from where I live. I dont know why I'd never noticed it before. It had circa 1900 construction and a GIANT cotton wood tree. I figured what the hell... I'll give it a couple hours. To my surprise it had never been hit before. I was popping coins left and right but they all seemed to be in the 70's and late 60's. I was hunting in a modified pattern that I had thrown together for coins, basically I had everything under 24 notched out. After digging all modern day clad I decided "maybe I'm just not going deep enough to hit silver?" So I re balanced (slightly positive), maxed my sensitivity, slowed WAY down and switched over to all metal mode. I was starting to get more consistent targets. I got a solid "8" in the TID. I figured... What the hell... It's a solid reading. To my surprise I popped out my first ever pre 1900's coin and my first ever "V" nickel! Soon after I nailed a couple wheat backs (1910 & 1944) and an old skeleton key. I was swinging my stock coil on my X70. I plan to go back with my 6" DD and see what turns up.
