For my first hunt, I went to an old school in town and planned on hitting the softball field. Well, when I got there, a softball game was in progress. That meant that I had to hunt the front of the school which I must have hunted at least 30 times over the last year. The area is only about 120' x 60' and I've hit it from every possible angle with my E-Trac. I used the GMPOWER program with adjusted 4 tones settings and sens bumped up to 99.
I only found one 1942 S war nickle and one 1946 Jefferson, but I considered it a successful hunt because I and others have pounded this school to death over the years. Both nickles were about 6 - 7 inches deep and the signals were loud and strong. What was so impressive was the fact that both coins were surrounded by rusty nails. The hole the war nickle came out of had 6 of them and the Deus was still able to pick it out (just amazing).
Tomorrow, I will be hunting an old estate that was originally build in the early 1800's, but burnt down in 1902 and rebuilt. The amount of iron surrounding the house is so thick, my E-Trac with a 6" coil could not separate out the good targets. Many of my MD club friends have hunted there and gave up. If the Deus is as good as I think it is, I should be in for a good time.
