My first old coin with my new MXT

I stopped at a farm house today to ask him who owned the one room school house that was close to his farm, and we got to talking a bit, and I asked him if I could detect his yard. Well he said yes but I only had one hour of time. So the next question was if he minded if I checked for one hour today then returned on my next day off work. He agreed!

well I dug several iffy deep targets that were junk, found the key, few shells, then I got this real faint signal that was bouncing from the 50's to the 70's on the VDI, I swang the coil over it in all directions, and every way gave a real faint beep. I pinpointed and dug. The ground is bone dry, so dry that it is like brown concrete. Well 7" down I pulled out this 1895 Indian. I was pretty happy the MXT got that depth with the 6x10 coil and DRY, I mean extremely dry ground!

this new detector impressed me today, can't wait to see what it can do with wet ground!

I gotta tell ya! I thought I read first GOLD coin! :)

Nice find and hope you get some rain soon....maybe IKE will bring some after it gets out of Texas. MO is supposed to get lots of rain Sunday night and Monday with flooding over the flood stages in Valley Park, MO, here in the St. Louis area and down at Steeleville and other places in southeast MO. Sooo, I can't imagine how much Texas will be getting with storm surges as high as a two-story building along the Texas Gulf Coastline! Going to hit Galvaston and Houston very badly! My prayers are for safety for those in the paths of the hurricane and storms formed from it with lots of rainfall!

God Bless!

Shot gun casings are a real pain. I'm going to Ohio Monday but we'll have to get together for some hunting when I get back. Never thought I would own a White's but couldn't believe the depth on a gold ring in Prospector Mode.

WOW! Thats a good find...1895 Indian coin, Congrats on that one..
