:surprised: OMG! I didn't know the revolutionary war was fought in my back yard lol! Suffolk county was occupied by the British during the war and there were camps around here so I am so happy!

I posted in what is it fourm and the only thing that bothered me was the TID I am getting from it. which is around 28 and i thought lead was lower.

But looking closly at the ball i can see the seem around the center and its real! I am a happy geek

Thank you everyone!!!! I was using the 10.5 DD 7.5 Coil. It was about 7 inches deep. I hope its real!

Thank you! I wonder why that is? According to Diggers post, lead should read much lower.....

Finding Things is Kool! Question for you 'Digmeahole',

You've found a musket ball. How do you know it came from British rifles and not some 'Ole boy out squirrel or rabbit hunting? I've owned my share of black powder rifles and every one of them used a round ball. I used them for everything, from target practice to hunting rabbits, squirrels, and even dear during the special season. I've not seen a round ball from a military rifle so I really don't know if it has special markings, etc. So the question remains; how do you know it came from a military rife and not some 'Ole boy out hunting? Thanks.

I'm with Travis, lead at least in southwest Virginia soil, TID's at 30 to 32 for me. I dug 75+ .69 cal musket balls last season and 8 so far this year and they all TID at 30+ using the 70 and 705 with the 10.5 DD 7.5 kHz coil. HH TomB

PS No question it's real..looks like a .69 cal musket ball.

Tid numbers are confusing to me. I am still learning to "hunt by ear" in AM mode. I don't know what kind of rifle it came out of..... From what i can see it looks old.
