My first sheath

TURNMASTER

Active member
This is my first sheath, I am very happy with the results. I finished it yesterday. Still needs to be oiled. It is my 2nd leather project and the first which required stitching, the other was a strope held together by Chicago screws (think rivet). Hand stitched and made for the first knife I made a while back. Boy hand stitching can be hard on the hands, I think after getting the hang of it it became less painful the day after. It took me 3 one hour sessions and I had to pull the stitching after I was about 1/3 done. I really have a better appreciation for hand worked leather and the price of such items. I reshaped the handle from what it was, it did not fit the blade right. If you look you will see problems with the pinning of the knife handle. I did the "carving" on the handle.

Next time you try to hand stitch leather use a Palm Glove ok. That is their sole purpose. To save your hands. You can get them at any leather dealer or on line. They are also heavily use and sold by Nautical Supply Houses. I used them many times while at sea ok. Great Work. Keep it up. PEACE:RONB :super:

Thanks

Well, Jeff, I'm no expert on sheaths, but looks like some pretty good leather work there. Good job.
