Eight in one day....woohoo. Okay, so my method of finding them is a bit different than Y'all, but it was still pretty sweet. I work retail and I had a customer come in Saturday and his bill came up to 7 dollars and some change. He pulled out an old roll of quarters and paid me totally in change. I noticed the quarters sounded funny as he threw him down on the counter.....after looking at them closely, I realized they were silver! Neat-o.

Congrats, Liz! No easier way to get them and much better than digging! People need money now and will be spending their saved coins whether silver or clad! So sad too, the way the economy is now taking a toll on too many financially! May God Bless more and more! Amen! Ma Betty

Yes Ma, I am afraid you are right about the economy having an effect on old money circulation. My sister works at a grocery store part-time and she has gotten tons of old money lately. People are really having to resort to drastic measures to even buy food. In my case, I don't think this individual was hurting for money, I think he just didn't know what he had.

Ha! I suppose I could do that, DK. I actually thought about hiding one out in the yard and asking for a lesson from Travis.....he would simply die if his wife with NO metal detecting skills found a silver quarter in a yard he has hunted to death! Lol.

Silver the easy way is ok by me!

Liz,if wanna have some fun bury a couple 2-3 inches outside where you can refind them no problem and tell Travis you know for an absolute fact that there is silver in the yard......also it will show you how its done....hh and good luck Dan.

Thank you all!!! I can see why you love this hobby so much ;) I have to admit, just the feel and the sound of that silver in my pocket was exciting. You can't help but think of the history and wonder about the "story" of the money you find.

Dan-I might just have to try that! I will have to wait awhile since he will read this post. Wonder how long it will take for him to forget about reading this!?! Lol.

I know there is not any silver in my yard unless it is real deep. I have dug 1000's of holes in our yard.

n/t

Well, ya never know when she will receive more in change and not tell you about it and hide her silver finds in the yard or a near by place that you hunt in regularly! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Congrats! It's still silver... no matter how you found it!
