Well this good luck charm hasn't worked much yet, but I figured I would post this shot of a pendant I had made out of my favorite coin find, a 1746 reale found last summer with an ID Excel. Monetarily, it is not worth much but it is priceless to me. Rather than keep it in a box to look at occasionally, I figured the pendant would be better. Now I can see it all the time. Has anybody else made a pendant, jewelry, etc., out of their finds? BTW, the coin was not harmed, soldered, etc., in any way by the silversmith. It simply rests in the prongs.

Since you asked, I think you saw the Spanish cobb I had done....yes it already had the hole, so I had a jeweler just make the silver loop thingy (tons of people have been like, why did you make a hole!?) :rolleyes: For those that don't know, coins were often kept on a string or sewn inside cIothing to prevent loss or theft (at least this is one of the theories). It may have even been worn, & now I'm wearing it over 200 years later :) I really like the style of the silver chain the guy got me too......
 
Where you been hiding Ted? Glad to see you back. That coin turned out great! You've got me thinkin' now. I might need to dig out that Spanish coin I found and get it on a chain. :thumbup:
 
Found it at a cellar hole with the Coinstrike & after sending scan to some collectors, was told it's a 2 or 4 Reales' from 1600's....
 
I would print out a picture of Ted's to bring to a jeweler to show him what your looking for.....that is very well constructed.
 
I really like that design. It does not damage the coin at all. Like Ted said, they are not worth a lot, but people should SEE them! They are not fully appreciated in a box tucked in a closet.
 
Hey! I haven't been doing much detecting but am dying to get back out into the fields this fall. Thanks for the compliment on the pendant. The work cost more than the dang coin is worth! But I love it.
