My latest AT PRO modifications.......

Had some time on my hands and a White's PRL detector laying around my work shop, SO I decided to improvised. Took the box off the White's and mounted the AT PRO on the "S" rod. I made the stand from PVC and it can be taken off when water detecting. Added the foam for flotation and some tape around the handle. Very well balanced for me.

Did you plug the end of the tube under the arm rest? You don't want it filling full of water if you use it in the lake. Don't know if that tube has a drainage hole at the bottom like Garrett detectors do.

Watch out for that foam to be a bother. Extra flotation, especially up high like that, has always bothered me in the water. I much prefer neutral buoyancy.
The little stand thingie looks promising, for sure.

I've made those stands for my other detectors. They work GREAT. foam float is OK for me. I like to see my detector floating!

Yeah man, only thing is the AT Pro ain't neutrally bouyant.The dang control box floats. It can be a pain in the neck sometimes 'cause it's always wanting too pop up out of the water(especially in the surf).
Oh wellat least it don't sink.

Oh, by the way, cool mod!Thanks for sharing. I use one o'those "noodle" floaty things wrapped around a Garrett classifier(gold pan) for my floating sifter.

So adding the foam will make it want to float higher still? Hmmm, Im thinking a strap on weight below the housing is gonna be needed......

I don't want mine floating either. It's like trying to wrestle an octopus as it is. Danged hard to keep the coil flat on the bottom once you submerge the control box. I put mine on the Plugger straight shaft and that seems to help. The lower stem fills with water and seems to keep the coil down a little, just have to remember to holt it up after hunting to let it drain.

My hunting pal, HaI, used to dunk a Whites Beach Hunter, which had a hollow shell coil. That thing would not stay down - period.
So, we used to fill a sock with sand until it would hold the coil down. Then we'd strap it to the rod above the coil. It looked like crap, but it worked. A black sock looked better and a bit of inventiveness could improve on this notion, considerably.
