My new T2 is not new after all:(

I went on a popular detector retailers website (sounds sorta like JellyRole) and found a T2 listed on there used page.
Called them up, they said yep, it's brand new made in October, they guy bought it then and returned it after one month.

I asked them if the coils are interchangeable with the Greek series of Teknetics detectors. I was assured they were.
Man this is great I think as I will be able to use the two coils I have for my Gamma on this T2.

I get the detector and it is BROKE. All it will do is emit the siren sound and says coil overload or such non sense.

Then I hear from someone else that the coils ARE NOT interchangeable...Man, this couldn't get any worse...could it?

Yes it can and did.

I figured I wouldn't even involve JellyRole as this is the second strike for them in my book, having experienced their nice return restocking fee BS on something I previously bought.

I really wanted the T2, I figured, I'll contact Teknetics direct, send it in for repair, and see if they could possibly upgrade the computer to give it all the latest whizz bang features.
Even if I spent $100 more, I figured I would be even had I bought a brand new one.

Well, come to find out it was a bad coil, so they fixed it for free. Great service at Teknetics.
But they said they could not up grade the firmware.

I get the machine back and truthfully, I find myself reaching for the Gamma over the T2. The T2 Seems unstable, I dig empty holes etc.

Then I learn how to check for software version.. pull trigger, press grey button while turning the machine on.
Rev 5. something or other.

Thanks for letting me rant hear. I guess I have no one to blame but myself, but I will tell everyone I can....Don't touch my JellyRole. Unscrupulous is my opinion of them.

Anybody want a slightly used T2?

Seriously have to wonder how they find new customers...PT Barnum had it right I'm afraid.

I called them for my 1st detector purchase..I wanted a Z but was sold a Q...Didn't realize till after I hung up I had been "steered". Dangit I usually know better.
Hoping for the best I tried the the Q but was very frustrated & disapointed. Upgraded to what I origionally wanted & detected happily thereafter. But I will never purchase from Jelly Roll ever again.

At least it looks like you solved the problem already. Thanks for the warning...

Cheers!
