My one cents worth

Well, after getting permission a while back from a local land owner and one heck of a friendly guy, I have finally got to detect a nice private undisturbed yard dating back to the 1850's up here in New England. I actually have sweeped it a few times in October and plan on many more sweeps. First the yard is VERY HEAVILY TRASHY! I'm using my 6dd coil which seems to handle the yard the best I can! Also using the factory preset #2(I'm mostly a coin shooter) with the 99 tones(i love this feature) and on tracking cause there is no flippin way I'm gonna get a good ground balance, hence all of the junk in this yard! Anywho, I'm having fun detecting this yard. Very slow moving pace. Not digging everything that i hear as not to wreck the lawn. So far i have found a few old buttons, a Wheaties and a nice 1852 braided hair large cent that was only at about 3 inches. I'm really having fun with my new 705..I'm still learning and not really frustrated at all...Just trying to become one with the machine! LOL LOL. Hey it worked with the Xterra30! Good luck to all and happy huntiing! Emmett

Emmett, you just posted a picture of a coin that has been avoiding me for nearly 39 years of detecting. Congrats on finding that one! HH Randy

Thanks Randy..It's my first really nice large cent..Luck! I still got allot of work in that yard. The owner is such an awesome guy. He was happy for my find also. Congrats on all your finds lately. I'm having a blast with this new machine! Happy hunting all! Emmett

Thanks Terra for the kind words..Ya, i consider myself still learning the machine and finding a few things with it. Its a great machine. I'm so glad that my first machine was the Xterra30 making it an easy transition sort of to the X705. Basic fundamentals! I really love the post of the stuff you guys find down under. Some pretty, pretty interesting coins! Wouldn't mind finding those coins you guys find myself!
Idaho, same here!! I love reading this board and looking at the pics of all the coins and relics that folks find! It amazes me! What a hobby! And thanks Beale for the nice comment! I'm lucky i pulled that potato out of that yard cause its so trashy! Oh well, gonna keep detecting it for sure! I know there is other stuff there! Thanks all and happy hunting! Emmett
