My Part of The Woods Part 2

...this is what I do to resize for the forum.

With your picture in photoshop hold down alt+ctrl+I

A box will pop up showing the dimensions of your image.

Make sure there is a check mark in Constrain proportions and Resample Image at the bottom of the box.

Change the pixel width to 1000. The height will change automatically. Click OK. ( If you want the photo to appear smaller on-line change the width to 700. )

A smaller image of your photo will appear.

Hold down shift+ctrl+s to "save as".

The save as box will appear. The file name should be something like image # 1423. I usually just add a comma and then "web" or whatever you use to note that it has been resized to upload. This will preserve the original image.

Click "save".

A JPEG options box will appear. Choose medium in the "Quality" drop down box. Then click OK.

This will give you a low resolution file but will be large when viewed.

Example:

This photo was originally 5 megapixels. After resizing it is only 76.4 KB but still looks good online.

If you have trouble let me know, but this should work for you.

Doug
