I can put any coil on there that I want because of the water proof connector. Probably will use the 10" on the ocean beaches and the Seasearch in the lakes.

Mel, fantastic. I have never used the old Seasearch coil but I have heard it's a very stable coil, and for that reason many even cut the fins off it to drop some weight and used it on land with their Sovereigns. Must be a bit different coil than the old heavy BBS 8" coil I'd guess perhaps?

Critter find yourself a Seasearch coil, cut the fins off and you won't be disappointed. They are a little heavier than the 8" Tornado but I believe they are much hotter and more stable. The depth on these approaches that of the new 10" Tornado.

Hi Mel,

I tried two or three of those seasearch coils back in the day and never saw much difference over the coinsearch myself.

Remember they used to have problems blistering up?

Minelab used to sell them as an accessory coil for the Sov prior to the release of the BBS coils that came after the coinsearch. I dont even think they made it to the black cable days, they were all grey cabled if I remember right.

I think the fins on the seasearch were to keep the detector upright when you set it down.

Now the 10 or 11" coinsearch was a heck of a coil but way to heavy and unbalanced. That sucker went deep, just like the original S12 from sunray.
