Ordered it with the X-1 probe, an X-5" coil (w/ lower shaft), car charger, and a rain cover.

I'm going to be antsy until Tu. or We. (hopefully) when it arrives. (Having it delivered to work for security reasons--don't want it sitting on my front porch until I get home.) Though it doesn't look like we're going to have any soft ground to detect for a while yet. But it's raining today so perhaps the snow will melt enough that I can dig some frozen soil in the yard. :detecting: The top 3-4" tends to be frozen but is more diggable below that. (And actually works pretty well in some sense since a frozen top plug drops right back in like a jigsaw puzzle piece.) The hard part is if the target is locked into the frozen soil.

It will be intersting to see how the transition from the Sov is. I expect it to be a good bit smoother than the transition from the Tesoro Sidewinder to the the Sov was. I've learned a ton on the Sov this past year and there are more similarities between these two (continuously variable tone ID for one). I have a number of spots I'm anxious to test it on but the first test will be in the yard since it's the location I've covered the most by now and know the best. It's also one of the trashiest spots I have as well as mad interence from the very close electrical lines. I have to run the Sov on minimal or near minimal sensitivity here so that will be a quick test of the noise cancelling abilities of the Explorer.

I feel like a little kid. <bounce, bounce, bounce> :jump:

I can't wait!

high voltage power lines is TOUGH even for the explorer to contend with ...noise cancel will help but i have found that even then SOME TIMES ya have to lower your sens to help with the chatter from the lines....oh yea if you ever get to hunt a yard that has a buried electric dog fence you are gonna be in for a rough time unless you can talk the owner into unplugging it just until you finish detecting .....have a good one and good luck with the new machine

Try and keep calm Rich....

Exciting though isn't it !!! :bouncy:

Been following it via the UPS tracking: Knoxville, Richmond, Stratford, Shrewsbury, and finally the closest shipping point, Watertown. Have to take my gear along and sneak out for a bit of digging at lunch, weather permitting (as long as it's not precipitating). And make sure I have some AAs along.
Did you get it?
Yup! See the "Holy, er, cow..." post.
