This past Saturday my son took me to a new site he found earlier in the week. On his first hunt he found a 1655-58 French Liard (ID'd by Dr Phil Mossman) and a nice 1736 KGII Halfpenny.
On our trip, right away my son got a large copper, LOL< at first I thought it was another Indian Peace Medal but no, it was a 1797 KGIII Cartwheel, first one either of us had seen.
A little later in the hunt I got a counterfeit rotting pewter coin. Last time I got one of these it was a Bust Half Dollar, that disintagrated a bunch because I did not lacuer it upon getting home
This one I am not sure, we thought it was a counterfeit KGII halfpenny, but now not sure, not enough to see to ID. Other than GEORGVIS and possibly II, on the reverse I saw 17__
Within 3 feet of the pewter coin, I got a well worn copper that turned out to be with great eye strain a 1697 William III Halfpenny.
At a neighboring site got two Naval buttons and my son got a fattie IH 1864. Overall a great Saturday hunt for the two of us.
