MY T2 FROZE TODAY!!!!

Since I refuse to accept the fact that my season is over I went out diggin today for about 4hrs! When I got there my T2 was working great! Found 3 wheat pennies and a little apple charm! After about an hour of hunting I went to change the sense and when I turned the knob the numbers didnt move! I was trying to turn it down but the numbers started going up and then down and back up again! I was about to cry because I just bought this machine about a month ago! I finished up with the setting where they where and then came home to call first texas! After I got home I thought about it and turned the machine back on. Wouldnt you know good as new! In the manual it says you can operate down to -4 degrees. Thats def not the case! It was about 15 degrees here in PA today and my T2 didnt like it one bit! I guess its time to accept the fact my season is over! Has anyone ever heard of this type of thing happening before? I figured its normal because my touchscreen phone wasnt working either! I guess metal detecting isnt meant to be done in these conditions!

Be careful, I sent my T2 in to get looked at because it was acting a bit funny. I sent it USPS with delivery conformation. I checked the tracking number and it was delivered to them in El Paso Texas on Dec. 16th. I called today to see what was up and they say they never received it and they don't know where it is. I had the return authorization # on the box, correct address, the whole 9. Now I have to call back and ask for the warehouse manager, tomorrow. So my $850.00 machine was lost and apparently not fixed. This has me worried!

OMG!!!! I wouldnt be able to sleep at night! You know im kind of regretting ordering a Teknitics! I love the detector but from what I read the service dept is a little lack! I really wish I would of got a Whites! I feel for you buddy thats gotta be a rough situation! I really hope everything works out for you! I wouldnt send my machine anywhere without full insurance after reading this! I tried to call first texas and they keep transferring me to fisher instead! I leave messages and no one calls back! I would love to hear how this plays out for you! Do you like your machine other wise though?

Hopefully it was just sluggish and when it warmed up it will be fine,,,,,,,,, interesting your phone wouldn't work either........

I'll let you guys know if they find my machine.I really like the T2. It is very easy to use and goes super deep, just hope I get it back.

Yea my old smart phone used to do it too when it was super cold outside!! I dont know what it is but when they get cold they slow way down to where they hardly work. Its pretty similar to what my machine was doing! The detector works fine again now that it warmed up! THANK GOD!!! However I was gonna send it in to get it upgraded and gone over but I dont know if I want to do that hearing these horror stories!

First Texas has done a great job of service 99.9 tenths of the time............ Any company can have an error happen..

I errrr constantly!! lol

I called and talked to customer service and now I have to call the warehouse manager and see if he can find my machine. It has a Return Authorization Number that they use to track it's arrival. The machine was delivered on December 16th to their facility, I have proof of that, but they say they didn't get it and haven't worked on it.I'm not bashing First Texas, but this is sloppy.Making the customer call Felix, the warehouse manager and asking if he can look around for the package, is a joke, and very sloppy. The T2 I purchased is only a month old, and I have the box, manual, reciept etc, but my $850 machine is lost. How confident would you feel? It may not happen often, but obviously it can and does.I don't know about you guys, but I hate to lose that kind of money. I have to work very hard for it. I hope it works out and they find my detector, but if not my youtube channel will have some new videos.

Yea I still havent heard back from FIRST TEXAS regarding my detector either! I went to there sight and emailed them telling them my situation and asking what I should and NO RESPONSE! Ive called emailed and still nothing! What am I supposed to say? Yea first texas is great they are so on top of there game! I would love to say nothing but good things about the company who makes the detector I use so faithfully but I would be lying and thats not in my character! WHITES would have called immediatly or actually I take that back I wouldnt have to wait for a callback because you can actually get a hold of someone when you call there service dept!

justin 767, who have you actually talked with at F T? Tek and Fisher service is probably one and the same. Next time ask for Felix. I have had nothing but prompt and great service with F T. HH jim tn

if you have confirmation it was received at the factory, its their responsibility now to find it, fix it, or.make it right by sending another one..............thats why we pay extra for confirmation........i hope you get the results you are looking for.

I would NEVER send something like that USPS. I would use UPS and insure it - it costs next to nothing to insure. That way, you're covered either way. I've done a lot of shipping and mailing over the years in my businesses and I can tell you that the USPS dependability has deteriorated terribly in recent years - typical of the government. Delivery confirmation is not the same as having to sign for it (certified). If someone signed, then you're ok, if not - good luck.

Have you gotten the post office involved in your search ??? maybe it wasn't delivered as they said, or to the wrong address......... I would think they should have to track to where the package actually went.and to where it went..............

I cant talk about US postage, delivery or other things relating to a lost detector....but I guess this thread was started by justin 767 whose T2 played up in the cold. I think most of the detectors I own now are run by a microprocessor, and while I wouldn't have a clue how computers and microprocessors work, I do know that the components are made to very fine specifications, and any change to those specifications can have an effect on how the microprocessor works....this just doesn't apply to metal detectors, but to stuff like X Boxes, Wii, Playstations etc etc....Extremes of temperature, hot or cold, can effect the circuit boards, by making them, and their components, expand and contract....constant expansion and contraction can ruin a microprocessor. Maybe that is why metal detecting manuals often tell us, the user, not to leave our detector in our car or truck. On a not summer day, the temperature inside a closed motor vehicle can become so hot that a human or animal cannot survive. Imagine what that sort of temperature does to a finely tuned and calibrated machine....similar effects can be caused by extreme cold. However, it is not just the extreme temperature that is the problem. The change in temperature (eg. from inside a centrally heated house to outside in the snow) affects things like circuit boards, as the wire connections and joins are being subjected to movement and change, due to the large change in temperatures. Many makers of detectors give a range of temperatures in which the machine should be operated. I guess we need to be mindful of these. Justin referred to a citing of -4 degrees. I suppose sometimes manuals get mixed up, and it is possible that Justin has a manual which has references to temperatures in Centigrade. 15deg.F is about -10 deg C. Hope some of this helps. HH

We are still looking into this and I do not have all the details yet.

What I do know so far is this;
We have confirmation the unit was delivered somewhere in El Paso by USPS at 1:30 PM on the 16th.
Our USPS always arrives before 11AM as it did on the 16th and we have other packages and mail logged in as being received at that date and time. We don

First Texas customer service contacted me today, and was very helpful in trying to resolve this issue. I did speek with Felix, and found him to be very friendly and concerned about my problem. I feel much more confident today that things will work out well. I just wish I had my best machine back. I've been working hard on my metal detecting, and just got permission to hunt a very old plantation, turned school in 1905. I was looking forward to featuring the T2 in a very nice video series. I did a quick hit with my Bounty Hunter and found some nice silver, and other artifacts, but most of the targets seem to be on the deep side. Hope everything pans out. I have purchased several machines from First Texas and have answered lots of questions online, done reviews, etc..I have recieved many emails stating that a viewer has purchased one of these machines after watching my reviews and finds vids. I can't really afford to buy another high end machine right now, so this is a real set back.

Thank you I will ask for Felix! Im not dogging Tek in any way I just keep hearing these stories and Ive called twice and left an email! They put me through to fisher and he said the Tek guy wasnt in so I left my number to call back and never heard back. Second time they put me through I got answering machine left a message with all my info and what was going on still no call back. Left email twice still no reply! I havent really been persistant but I figured someone would call back. Ill just call again tom! I had my machine out today for a while though and it worked fine! It was like 35 degrees this time! Im thinkin it just doesnt like to run in the extreme cold. Even when it was that cold it worked just took a long time to get te settings to go down. Had to turn knob like 50 times to move it a couple knotches! I absolutely love my detector no complaints on it just wish I could get a hold of someone to ask them about it.
