had a good time camping up in Presque Isle-Saturday,we all went over to a park where there is a river with some falls between preaque isle and Rogers City...my brother in laws'wife was telling me about them;said "they are very popular in the summer-then she said'there is a deep pool in the center,AND KIDS HAVE TIED ROPES TO TREES.AND SWUNG OUT OVER IT,AND DROPPED IN"..Naturally the old TH'ING antenna went up-We got there, and she was right-The river cascaded down some gentle rapids, and there was a pool fromed by rocks, about 30'across,water looked to be about 5-6' deep in the middle,CRYSTAL CLEAR...There was a sign with rules-only rules were"NO DOGS IN WATER,NO ALCOHOL"....
It was tempting to get it there right away, but that river water MIGHT be around 45;if that...Didnt have my detector(no room, remember??
)I got another good lead in the June/July issue of Country magazine I was reading at work-There was an article in there about the old swimming hole, older people writing in and telling their stories of their swimming holes when they were young...even list the city and state where they were, what they look like now...wouldnt be too hard to find one in any respective state you live in,I wouldnt think-Maybe even do a Google Earth search,I bet-What do ya all think??Just imagine all that old silver;jewelry and other goodies just waitin in all them old swimmin holes...remember,there have been some AWFULLY NICE antique rings found in the H2o...
