My two cents worth

Never thought I'd find one of these so I bought one (1866) at the last C4 convention. Then I had a good, albeit strange, day on Saturday. Found a Town Common on the map the at I'd missed before. Spent some hours detecting the depth of the bowl but realize more and more that the lower parts were full of fill. (By the end of the night I'd realized a stream had been covered with soil.) Once the amount of fill dirt kicked in--can you say clad at 8 inches?--I took a breka for lunch and then started hitting the higher edges where I could see erosion. Skipped some surface shit that I probably shouldn't have--but I was tired of clad by then--but hit a bouncing but centering 3/29 signal at about 4". Dug this puppy. :) (And the pictures do NOT do it justice!--I'll try to get better ones in daylight.) I was so happy I showed it to a couple of young teenage girls sitting on a a bench--I think they though I was just some old perv at first but they thought it was pretty cool once they'd looked at it. (I made sure to avoid them after that.)

Worked my way around the far side by the town hall into an iron patch and into the woods before I found anythign else interesting. A good capgun copy of a .38 revolver--thought it was the real thing at first--and then a 5 coin wheat spill (but so dirty I'm still H202ing them.) So ended up with a day with almost completely modern crap except for this nice puppy.

Though I did lose my fucking keys by the end of the night--luckily having just installed a magnetic key storage a few days before--retraced my steps and found my keys 30 feet from the vehicle. :)

Way to go Rich. I love the 2 cent pieces. I have one I found about 15 years ago. Still trying to find another one.

HI Blackx,
Killer two cent! looks like it is in supper nice condition...really one of the best looking designs on a coin for me... looks oldtime and very patriotic. Wish the new coins could be half as well thought about...some of the new coinage is so goofy.
Hope you find more and thanks for sharin.

That is awesome...
Something else you can do instead of installing a key box, try calling someone that has one of your key fob and have them point it at their phone and hold you phone towards the front of your car. It will unlock the car. (Have an extra set of keys in your car) It works... Not a joke... I have done this several times.

Howdy Rich

Nice find! Since buying a 2 cent piece and then later finding one. I would think that maybe a gold coin is in your future purchasing plans ? Sounds like a plan to me. Good hunting..........................Hombre

Ive been lucky enough to find two of them.... im looking for that 3 center. Great find. Those kind of finds makes our many hours in the field all worth the effort.

Those 2 center's are tough to come by, especially in great shape like that one. Congrats on a successful hunt and hope there is more goodies left there for your next return visit. Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

presumably you left "Ben-Wa Balls" out of that conversation! :nono:

Well, yeah. They were already looking at me warily enough. But I have a daughter that age so I thought they might find it interesting anyhow.
