My View of the SE so far!!!..........

I totally Love my Explorer, but have had the priveledge of test driving one of the first SE's off the line. So far I am not convinced that it will out perform the older two models. True it looks better, but a 60 gramm difference in weight is minute, and so far it does not go any deeper. I was concerned when I seen the change in the coil, because how can you improve on a great coil? It is 1/2" smaller and lighter. Does this cause a loss in depth?? I have been running the two side by side to compare depths on targets. Like anyone, you can get a new machine and happen to go over a great find and dig it up. Would your old machine of any make had found that same item?? Who knows? I do know that if you have two detectors you can tell if one can hear it and the other not! Yes there are some neat little things that it can do, but does it make or break the reason for switching? So far not with me. Don't get me wrong, I am not bad mouthing this machine, like I said earlier I love the Minelab Explorer. I will know by Friday if I am going to switch or not. I will give a full report after that!

I didn't anticipate big changes to the Explorer. I was hoping...but pretty much guessed we would see something like this. Some minor changes...very similar to the minute differences between the Explorer XS...and Explorer II.

So...I waited for the release of the Explorer SE...and bought myself a used Explorer II. No better time...and although I haven't used an SE...I am quite certain I wouldn't miss any targets the SE can pick up. In fact, I don't imagine my XS would miss them either.

I can't agree with you more! :)
