Greetings to One and All!

I took today off sick,(cough cough, sneeze, belch). I felt better about 6:30 A.M. and went detecting at the local hunted out park. I dug a light rock that registered in the "nickel" range at about eight inches. It is too light for lead, steel, etc. and doesn't appear to be melted. This "rock" is different from anything I have ever dug? It is very light and metalic. Could it be a meteorite???

Will it attract a magnet?? I have some very heavy rocks here on my property that the Ex.II reads as 00-31. I had hopes that they were from space but it turns out they are Magnetite (Iron Ore). Hope you have something special there!

slag is a bi-product of smelting and refining...iron, copper, brass etc.
usually there is a "small" amount of the base metal left in it.

are you still working in the place on Loomis? Last I heard, the city was doing all kinds of stuff in the area there. Got any good hunting spots in the area? And by the way, I joined a metal detecting club and we meet every last sunday of the month. Let me know if you would like to be a guest then if you like it you can join. A swell group of Treasure Hunters if I do say so myself. look up our website, we are the "Midwest Historical Research Society"
Take care for now,
