Nailed it!

We want our detectors sensiitive and powerful to hit small, deep targets, but then we're unhappy with small nails, bird shot and other assorted junk. Ahh - that's one of life's frustrations for sure.

ok I have to chime in on this one..

Llisten...do this...since you're not supertuning it. When you get a signal and you know it's deep by the sound when you raise the coil.
Start swapping over to AM and listen to the differences in how it shows up by shape. You'll come to learn nails that way.

The Outlaw did good on nails with me last week. With the disc set between iron and foil the nails would not come in.The Outlaw is so smooth. With the v i would run the disc right were a nickel sounds off and the nails should drop out more. You have to remember, you can turn the v disc more because it is wider than say the Outlaw. This may be something we have to accept on a raw mono tone detector. We know we are getting great depth but may hit on deep nails due to the rust deposited halo effect. This is why once you dig the hole you do not pick the nail up now.The old nail had such a big halo effect going, it looks like a good target to the detector.
