Yesterday I visited the Dubbo branch of the NPWS just to see what they would say about practising my finding techniques in the sand in the Beni NP. 8 yrs ago we used to walk the dogs there & really enjoyed the freedom that we used to have in the Australian bush. Now is been declared a National Park.
At the Dubbo office of the NPWS, I was told that if I get caught in the Beni NP with a metal detector, I had better have a good lawer & plenty of money for court cost. The bottom line was: DON'T DO IT.

At least you can hunt in the State park in Burrendong. About the only thing I'll do in the Abeni forest, is go for a run with the running club. Maybe if I carry a detector in each hand, used as running weights, I might be OK.
