Got a chance to hunt an old homestead in NC this past week. Totally different from the beaches and parks here in Fl. Found a bunch of farm stuff, horseshoes, hoes and axe heads. Hit it for 3 days and not one single coin. I did manage to find my best find EVER! An old 18xx watch fob. It rang up at a 35 on the Safari. It has a quote from Lord Byron about "Wine and Woman, mirth and laughter, sermons and soda the day after". Anyway I am really excited about it. Hope I can figure out how to clean it properly. Any help would be appreciated. A pocket watch ring, and a smashed thimble.
The last pix with the newer stuff came mostly from a ball field on the property.
 
Thanks kschae4, I will give that a try, I was thinking of trying the peroxide bath followed by an oil rub down and sauna. What do you think?

You got that right GunnarMN, probably didn't have a lot to start with. From the location and proximity to town, not a lot of need for money I suppose.

Bunky- Interesting, haven't tried the peroxide method, but will test with clad. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4ADRA_enUS338US338&q=peroxide+cleans+coins. I usually soak with soap and warm water or baking soda before applying a light film of oil.
Oh yeah, don't forget your fave libation within reach of the sauna.

Really neat finds. Congratulations. That the neat thing about Metal Detecting,
you never know what excitement lies under ground. Of course, avoid grave-yards.
 
Thanks reltolbert, started this in Mar and man am I hooked!!! Having a blast and looking to go anywhere to hunt. since I work for an airline I hope to get to all 50 states!!!
