I got permissioned today to check the yard of an older house, so I gave r, a whirl. Nothing really old or silver, but it was still great fun. This is only the third 1943 Tombac war nickel that I have found and to me they are just too cool. Canada was pumping nickel into the war effort and the brass alloy was used as a substitute that year. The denticals or little divots along the inner edge is actually Morse Code, and it says '' We win when we work willingly'' I believe. This coin also reminds me of both my W.W. 2 vet. grandfathers. The 1935 penny below it was a neat surprise also. I find very few depression era coppers out here. The Canadian prairies suffered terribly in the dust bowl and any money was important. Oh, B.T.W. I tossed that tiny ring that I found a few digs back into some CLR. I figured that the cruddy mess was a brass toy. Turns out that it is silver with hearts across the top. It says Sterling, then a hallmark, then something else inside. It is still only half cleaned. I also touched up a dog tag from that hunt I believe, It is stamped 1905, but badly corroded in some spots. Still my oldest ever, so too cool also.
Jeez, you just never know until they are home and cleaned.

Great little ring too, thanks for a cool post...
