The CX is preset to automatically operate in the all-metal mode when you turn it on with the Treasure Hound attached and automatically selects the settings needed to operate the Treasure Hound. Auto-threshold which maintains the prior setting of the threshold is disabled. The threshold sound may fluctuate slightly due to ground conditions or temps but you can retune it by hitting the "all-metal" or "operate" button.

You do not swing this one as you would normally without the TH attached. Walk forward with the coil pointed straight in front of you and level to the ground.

Yeah man, the Garrett two box units can't be ground balanced manually. Mineralization can drive them nuts, but they usually handle it surprizingly well. It took me quite some time to get the hang of using them on hot (mineralized) ground and there's gonna be some areas where it's just not practicle. Just mind what Uncle Willy says and don't be afraid to use that All Metal button to "retune" the threshold. Don't continue to hold it down, just press it for a second. Years ago, in the Philippines, while using that two box unit, we had a team dig down twelve feet deep before we just gave up on it due to safety concerns. Be careful out there and above all just have fun. Happy Hunting!:)

I was scanning the place standing up and walking slowly but there was a tree too much over grown that I had to walk a little bit down and the detector was being, of course, lowered and it was sounding while I was doing that. I thought the detector was not properly being ground balanced. It was only sounding when I lowered myself or leaning down, when there was an increment in sound. Thank you.
