Need advise on how to set up Explorer II settings for maximum performance

Hello guys ironman05 from Southern California just got an EX II today and i need advise on how to set up the detector for finding deep silver in the parks and possibly settings for beach hunting? I tried looking on youtube but did not find what i am looking for. So i greatly appreciate if anyone can help me out. Thank You

Start out with the factory settings , read your manual and Andy's book on the Explorer . Experiment with your machine and if possible go hunting with a person really familiar with the Explorer . As you use your Explorer more and get familiar with it you will determine how to set up your machine to your liking for different situations .

Ironman tells us about your soil. North of you in Oregon the soil has a fair amount of volcanic black sand, it can be a bear to punch through this. Also seems to make hunting in iron that much worse with nails falsing. I'd take Upsate NY rusty nails any day over rusty nails in Oregon soil. The Portland, OR area has been hit hard by Explorers, you can still make a silver find picking through the trash but getting depth can be a challenge. I was hunting a well hunted park, found a spot that logically should produce some finds but wasn't getting that much depth or any hits. Frustrated I switched to all metal (nothing discriminated out) cranked the sensitivity to 30 and picked off a few deeper wheat cents and a silver dime. About lost my mind trying to hunt that way, the machine was category 9 unstable. I have had better luck on the west coast picking off silver hiding amongst the trash than getting the kind of depth I can get in the NE. Just my 2 cents worth.

Yes very true . The factory setting suck. Not sure about the iron issue here in the greater Los Angeles area. But I notice a lot of falsing in some areas. I

I would set you discrimination to around 6, set it to the deep setting and set your sound to conduct. Works for me
