We recently purchased a 61/2" Diamond head Stealth Scoop for water hunting. We live in the Mid-West and there is a lot of clay here at our swimming holes, and that is where my problems with the Diamond head stealth scoop if coming from. The diamond head has a pointed end on the scoop and in this clay it makes it very tough to dig and recover targets. We sometime spent as much as a half hour trying get to a target and give up in disgust after breaking the bottom all up and still not finding our target.
The problem seems to be the pointed diamond tip as it cuts a very narrow swath through the clay. We own a stainless scoop (now in Florida) that seems to handle this clay better for digging. Now this Stealth scoop is not a cheap scoop and I am considering altering the scoop by hamming the bottom more round and cutting off the diamond tip and resharpening it to handle the clay better.
Would like your opinion about this project before I go ahead. Would hate to ruin this scoop by doing this. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Rick IL.
