I have all kinds of places to hunt in town lots, old homesteads and working ranches. All are at least 110 to 120 yrs. old. But the stock coil drives me nuts with the iron. I was looking at the 8 in. or the 5 in. How big is a joey coil and will it work on the Quattro? Any thoughts please? Or is there any other size coil that will work?

get a joey b4 getting an 8 inch..great in trash, but is prone to falsing after rain etc..if you go anywhere near the beach(or hunt in damp areas),then i,d consider a platypus coil(basically a waterproof joey and good on the land as well, also has a slightly bigger footprint..both pinpoint great and are the only things that stopped me wrapping my quattro around a tree :) )..of course if your going to be hunting real trashy areas, then you MUST get a 5 inch, period :)

I have a 8" Minelab coil that I use in trashy areas and it works very well. The 8" also has very good depth it is also quite a bit lighter than the stock coil. I have not tried a 5" coil but it should work well in trash also, but im not sure about the depth. The 8" Minelab coil is actually 7 3/8" so its not much larger than a 5" coil.
