Need help for detecting farm fields.

I know very little about detecting plowed farm fields and would appreciate any help from any of you seasoned veterans who hunt fields. I have an Explorer XS and with the stock coil, seven inch and five inch coils and a Platypus. Should I invest in say a 15" WOT coil or do you think the coils I have are sufficient? Also, any settings that you use that might help me in the field would be appreciated as well. Thanks and HH.............:)

Eddie,I'm obviously sort of a rookie with Ex but have hunted plowed fields with it and others,A larger coil would be great for the coverage and depth since the plowed ground tends to be wavy, but once you find a spot that use to be a homesite,or a dumping ground, a smaller coil is handy. Also was just in a field last week where a farm used to be and there is plenty of junk. Galvanized metal, bolts, oddities, you name it. Good luck

Thanks for the help. This place is an old picnic ground and they had horse races there and a baseball field and people use to camp in tents by the creek. I'm just hoping that after 100 plus years that any coins and etc aren't so deep that I won't be able to pick them up.HH...........:)
