Need help identifying

I found this today in my front yard here in Alabama. It's about the size of a quarter & is thin unknown metal. The name Verdun is on the bottom below the castle. After looking online, all I can find out is there is a place in France named Verdun. Above the castle are three medals and above that a crown. Any help identifying what this is will be much appreciated. Thanks

I would venture a guess and say part of a world war 1 medal form verdun france. might be worth researching.

It doesn't look like a Verdun medal. My best guess is a souvenir plate for on a walking cane. I attached a picture for illustration. I hope it works.
The fortress of Verdun is part of the city logo.

During WW1 Verdun was a french fortress that was conquered by the German army in 1914. The battle of Verdun 1916 cost many casualties. After the war places, where big battles were fought became places of commemoration for fallen loved-ones but also popular tourist destinations.
