need help in making a decision

Hi everyone, Enjoyed reading all the posts and information BEFORE I joined the forum. You helped me in my decision making to purchase a Minelab Safari. It comes with the 11DD coil. I also bought in to the "package deal" that came with a better headset, and a bunch of other stuff that probably isn't worth what I'm paying.....anyway...I am torn between buying the 4x7 coil or the 8 coil. I live in Western New York and will usually be in local parks. Your opinion counts! I would love to hear from you out there!

You might get a better opinion from someone in the Safari/Quattro forum. I can only say that both coils would be ideal for parks .... the 4X7 even more so in trashier areas.

I live somewhere south of you just over the Penna. border and for my area the standard issue 11" DD Pro coil works just fine under almost any conditions. If I were to consider another coil, it would probably be the 6x8" SEF coil from Kellyco because of its separation abilities in iron laden sites. You might want to try your Pro coil for awhile before making a decision on whether or not to buy a smaller coil. Many of us find that the separation abilities of the Pro coil is plenty good enough for our purpose.

Mtnmn, Thank you for responding to my post. I was conidering the purchase only because I wanted the option of changing the coil. I just might wait on it and get the feel of my new detector. My old Whites DiPro 6000 still works but isn't operating the way it should. Not to mention that it weighs about 8 pounds!
