Need help with 2 farmhouse finds

After a good hunt this past Saturday I have had no luck in figuring out what the rusty iron latch might be for and does anyone know what the big piece of lead in the upper right corner might have been for, it is round and very smooth on top and perfectly flat on the bottom, it may have been sliced from a larger piece but don't know for sure.
FYI - Total count for the hunt is as follows using a Fisher CZ-3D in highly mineralized Alabama soil:
Milk Glass Lightnight Jar Lid
Unknown Latch or farm implement
Lead Fishing Sinker
2 Square Nails
1 bullet head (unknown)
Large 14 oz slice of lead
1 Token
Jewelry: silver necklace bead, 2 earrings
Clad: 2 nickels, 7 quarters, 9 dimes, 38 pennies
5 metallic punchouts

Thanks for helping,

Can't help with the lead piece. But the curved rusty piece on top is a rear brake shoe emergency brake spring and cable mount off of an automobile of some type. Looks to be of a later vintage. Late 30s or 40s for hydrolic brake system. JMO

Thanks for the ID on the old brake component Bill IL.

Just a guess but the piece of lead may have been cleaved off of a larger piece, as you said, to be a more suitable size for melting and casting bullets, etc. in the field. In any case those are some nice finds. Good work.
