When I'm not metal detecting, I do some gravestone conservation work. I found these on Sunday in a local city cemetery and they were being used as shims on a gravestone that is now off of its base. I've never seen anything like this used before as a shim, so my guess is that it was something that was used in a pinch during the previous repair job. Any idea what they are??? The quarter is for scale.

They look like the top of a leg for a coffee table with the center hole , the plate stops the leg from being over tightened .... woodstock
