just got the gt and having problem setting the meter up. been using a quarter and when i pass it over coil numbers jump all over the place can not get it to lock on the coin any help would be great

thank you

The area where you are sampling the Quarter is a clean spot, make sure your cables are also tightly connected to the meter and secured to your Rod, make sure your Disc is set about 12 oClock or so, lite threshold, Batts are up, and your sweep speed is slow...HH...Geo ;)

First thing is are you trying to set the calibration in disc as all metal will not work. Is the meter one of the new ones made for the GT?
If this is correct that you should have no problem setting the calibration. Set the sensitivity in auto as it will help get a steady numbers on the meter. Remember to only go over just the quarter to get a ID number because if there is trash or any other metal item the tone and number will change. The number should read no higher than 180 if you have the calibration set right, so wiggle the coil over just the quarter and make sure it is a USA quarter as a new Canadian will not work and set the calibration control to 180 while swinging over just the quarter.
Also make sure your rechargeable battery is charged up or both the numbers and tones will be wild if the voltage is too low.
