Started reading the books again hope to gleam some more out of them .THANKS SCOTT

i have an excal 1....i only land hunt and water up to my chin.......i believe you will have to learn that machine above water prior to diving...not that its all that hard to use but it does take a little getting used too......settings are going to vary depending on trash and iron content of the area you are hunting....i would start with threshold barely audible--kinda like a mosquito buzz....volume around 3 oclock...... sensetivity -start at 12 oclock....disc-at 1 or as low as it will go...swing slow low and steady .....dig all repeating signals.....make metal notes as to what certain targets sound like......if you are in a highly iron infested area you may want to put sensetivity in auto and turn the volume down to about 10 oclock--this will give the machine a better chance to seperate targets as it wont be reading as deep... or start out with the original settings i mentioned above and as you come upon a target you can slightly adjust your sensetivity until the target gives you the best signal......when you start getting deep targets you are probably be at the optimun as far as settings go......watch some of old beachnuts videos it will give you a very good idea how the machine reacts and how to vary your swing speeds when over a target......good luck.....
