A person wants to go and do some dry sand beach hunting with me next week. I plan to lend them my Omega 8000. Is there any way to set up the Omega as a " turn on and go detector'.... so that the detector will auto ground balance it's self in the disc mode? And the user won't have to adjust the ground balance? Thanks for your advice.

My Omega turns on with the GB set really high, like in the 90s. It defaults to that when you turn it off. Just show them how to hold the Ground Grab button and pump the coil. It will work in Disc or All Metal mode. At least mine does, it's a version 5.

If he/she stays in discrimination mode and on dry sand then the default ground balance may be fine.
What might be more of a problem is the other settings like discrimination, if your friend wants to find jewelry they will have to keep the disc LOW.
Then the sensitivity, they're going to have to adjust it accordingly to as max as they can and keep it stable, but not above 70.

If the person stays in the dry sand, a good initial g b should do the trick, and then just leave it at that setting. I have found by staying up in the dry sand the Omega operates just about the same as hunting turf and have been able to run sen up to 99. Have fun! HH jim tn
