I have a very used and very liked Tesoro Tejon. It is a great detector but the engineering could use a boost. While using it a few weeks ago the control box became loose and then finally fell off. I managed to temporarilly attach it. The screw went in but kept falling out.
When I got home I called Tesoro because the screw finally fell out and I could not find it. They told me the size of the screw and told me to open the control box and find the nut and screw the unit back on. The nut is held by hot glue and fell off. I did so and found that it had pulled loose a white wire and I am not sure of where it attaches. I have a friend who is a repairman and he will solder it on for me but I am really unsure of where it attaches. Tesoro told me to send it in and they would fix it under warranty, however they also told me that it would be at least ten days before they could fix it after they received the unit, that is two weeks, then add shipping and it could be three weeks, all for a wire that can be soldered back. If anyone can help me on this matter it would be greatly appreciated. I am a relic hunter and the weeds are starting to grow. I think the white wire has something to do with the second discriminator because it is not working, but I do not think it attaches there because all the wires are present. If anyone can tell me where this attaches then I can get back out and do some detecting. Another problem is now the battery compartment is very wobbly. I know it is must a matter of tightening a screw but this part of the engineering is a bit shabby. I also lost a battery pack that fell out of the compartment and didn't find that out until I have driven 30 miles and walked down railroad tracks for a mile. Maybe they should use a drop of loctite because this is a problem. Any help on the wire issue would be greatly appreciated.
