Need info for Explorer II

Hello guys. Im new on the metal detector scene. Im reading,reading,reading... Cant find a good field test for this machine. What is the weight of this detector? Is it also good in normal, dry soil (compare to single frequency detector) or it performs perfect only in mineralized ground? Are there any info about all metal mode depth and can it idetify target in this depth?

Thanx for any answer.

Hello Borg09,
You might want to visit the Explorer Classroom Forum - go to forum index.

Here are some quick answers. They should have a field test at one of these sites, Minelab or Western and Eastern Treasure Mag. (archives). Not really sure on that one. Search gooogle for Explorer II field test.

The Explorer is on the heavy side but not too bad seems like I remember it is 4.?? lbs. I use the smaller Sun Ray Stealth x-8" coil which helps.

It works better in less mineralized soil.

All metal mode would be hunting with nothing discriminated out. This is all metal mode for an Explorer (no separate all metal mode). With the ground I have here in Lower Mich. I have dug single coins at 11" (dime and small cent) that IDed very good. As with any machine, you have to learn what it is telling you.

Spend some time at the ML Explorer Classroom Forum. Or better yet find someone that owns one or go to a dealer and try it out. It is a different sort of detector.

Hope this helps. HH - Robin

Hi,
Try going to www.losttreasure.com. Select "field tests" on the menu to the left and then look for Minelab. I believe there are also some field tests on Sunray products for the Explorer. Good luck.
