Need more info... which detector?

Hey guys, I am thinking really hard about getting a teknetics 4000, and have read everything here that I can find on the topic, but am wondering if there is anything else in the $300 price range that I should be looking at. For $279 I can get the 4000 with a teknetics pinpointer (I'm still using a cen-tec unit) and headphones, with free shipping. I have quite a few Bounty Hunter machines, as well as a tesoro compadre, and a white's classic II. I hate to admit it, but I really like the target ID and depth indicator on the BH models, so whatever I get next will have to have those. I'm reading lots of good things about the 4000, and am wondering if the BH coils will fit this machine. ( I have a 10" magnum and a 4" nugget coil for the BH line). I also had an Ace 250, but didn't like it at all. I am mainly interested in coin shooting, but certainly wouldn't pass up jewelry! Any input or suggestions of other detectors with TID in that price range would be appreciated!

Whites Coinmaster has one in that price range seems to have good reports.

Check out the Tesoro Compadre, It gets great reviews, its supposed to be a super coin shooter with its 5 3/4" coil and works great in trashy ares. Very simple turn-on and go. Just a thought!

Thompy, I have a compadre, and it is a great unit, but I'm looking for something with a depth reading and a target ID. I will admit, I have pulled coins from places that I had previously thought to be hunted out, but I'm wanting something that will differentiate between copper pennies and the zincs. I dug probably 80 zinc in a day! I know that not digging zinc will cause me to miss some good targets, but the places I am wanting to use this will have more current coin, and I'd prefer not to dig zinc if I can help it.

Hummmm. If you're not happy with the Ace 250, you're options are limited for a machine in your price range.
As already said there is the coin master. If your not in a hurry and can put together a little more money
you might go up one step from the teknetics 4000. KellyCo
is having some real blowout sales at the moment. They have some field reoports on the two machines as well.
Good luck.

Darren, you already have detectors in the same performance and price range.I would sell off some equipment to add to your purchase power. Keep one backup unit the Compadra, and purchase a used CZ or MXT.A move up not sideways for performance will increase your old coin finds.Good Luck Ron

Ron, that actually sounds like really good advice. I can't use but one at a time, so a closet full really doesn't make much sense. Maybe it is time to thin the herd a little.
