need pinpointing help with omega and 11 inch biaxel coil, please

hi all:)..ive had my omega a couple of weeks and have only used it with the 5 inch coil,as it was the only one i had a cover for..anyways,the omega is killer with that 5 incher and the pinpointing spot on(in fact the coin was always in the plug)..ive just put the 11 inch on,and having never used the tek/fisher 11 inchers b4,i need some help.....
where on the coil is the item located when you get the strongest pp signal??? ive noticed a little dot on the main rib,is that the sweet spot? can you pull the coil towards you and the coin will be where the signal stops(like im used to on the terra and whites dd)??

any help/info greatly appreciated:)

On my T2 the 11" Biaxial coil pinpoints in the center of the coil where the little dot is. Usually dead center. Best DD coil I've ever used as far as pinpointing goes. The pinpoint audio will the the loudest when the target is centered under the dot. At least for me on the T2. I believe they use a very similar coil. Nails seem to pinpoint a little off to the side though for me.

THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK:)..i just got back from a park as a sort of test run with it,and i found out a couple of things,lol..this coil must have a massive footprint! i isolated a coin in the middle of the park, there was no trash around it,and the coin (an australian 2 dollar coin) banged hard, like i expected, but i was off on the pinpoint by a couple of inches, the coin was only about 3 inches, and i got it with my next bite, that was using the little dot,and digging when the signal was strongest near the dot... a little further and i isolated another coin, and i knew by the vdi it was a dollar coin this time..so i used the ol drag the coil back to me and dig when the signal ends..again only a couple of inches deep..this time i cut a bigger plug, and i got the coin(just) in the plug, but again,a bit off from what i was expecting..this dd coil holds the signal a bit 'longer' if i explained it right, than say the 6x10dd i use on my whites m6,where i have managed to get the pinpoint reasonably down, either by centre of coil or dragging it back to me,so this biaxel coil is a little different from the elliptical dd's ive used before...the most important thing i learned is to replace my pro pointer, lol, im gonna need it with this coil, also practice, obviously and maybe learn to detune during pinpoint, never found i needed on my other coils, but this beast may be an exception...

im going to try the 10 inch elliptical soon, and ive heard that pinpoints pretty well in the centre 'teardrop',so i dont envision any problems there...please keep the tips coming guys, really appreciate them! :)

You'll get the hang of it. :) I sold my X-Terra 705 and replaced it with the T2. It was much much harder for me to pinpoint with the 10.5" DD coil on the X-Terra than it is for me with the 11" Tek coil. I rarely have to detune now. I just cross the target a few times.. find the strongest hit in pp and dig where the dot is. It helps to pp from different directions first to get an idea where the signal is strongest... then just dig under the dot. Try burying a coin a few inches...mark the spot on the ground with something and then pp it. You'll see where the hotspot is on your coil. Good luck with that Omega.. I hear it's a great machine :)

With the 11" DD on the Omega, I seem to pinpoint more between where the lower rod connects to coil and just behind the little dot, with the 10" concentric coil, you are right, it is in the center of the rounded part of the tear drop.

I've been using the 5dd with my Omega and not working much to pp. For more coverage and depth I switched back to the 11dd and really had to work pping. I need to hone my detuning skills, I know that. I bought a pistol probe (should be here any day) for $90 on fleabay (I am trying to quit, honest). I will focus on sweetspotting my 10 and 11 inch coils when it comes. I put a spot of white caulk on the dot on the 11s to make it show up better. My old eyes really appreciated it!

Here's another easy way to pinpoint with the 11" DD coil. Run the coil across your target and pull the coil toward you until the sound disappears. Then move the coil forward until you get a signal. The object should be close to the front of the coil. This works well for me and it's fast.

I don"t have the Omega but here is what works for me with my Gamma and the 11"DD coils. When I find a target I will sweep back and forth a couple of times and notice the "line" that the center spot on the coil is making. I then rotate 90 degrees and find the target again along that line while sweeping with the center spot, narrowing the sweeps until it is over the target. This works great for me and will center the target under the center spot on the coil every time unless it is a coin on edge or some other mis shaped target and then it may be off a little, but it will still be close enough for your pin pointer to locate once you dig the plug. Good luck with what ever technique you find that works for you!

As stated by others, the center of the coil is where the small dot is (looks like a plastic injection molding circle where the shaft attaches).
However, with this DD coil, if the target is within 3 inches of the coil surface, it can cause the coil to mis-read from its true center.
Tip: On really strong signals, lift the coil a few inches above the ground when pinpointing. That should resolve the issue.
