need some help from the X-perts

Guys,

I think I have a coil freakin' out. I can change coils (2 others) and the 70 settles down. Can Minelab, just check out the coil by itself? If so where would i send that critter?

I would get on minelabs web site . Their phone number is on there. What is the coil doing?

Before I made the call to Minelab, did it just stop working or has it always acted up? If it just started, check the pins on the coil connector. I bought a used coil from a guy and it wouldn't work when I got it. I noticed that it was real tough to get it to screw on the housing connector. I checked the pins and one of them had been bent over, making it so it wouldn't compete the circuit. I carefully bent the pin straight and it works fine. If they are straight, you might clean them a little bit to make sure they have continuity. Definitely worth the time to check things out. HH Randy

Chattering, I can shake it and it will settle. Sometimes it picks up a really good silver signal on each left swing! I can change to another coil (I have put on 2 more) and the problem leaves.

Digger

I have used the detector for over 3 years and this just started over the last couple of months.... I even removed the coil cover, It will act up for awhile, then settle. Still finding good stuff with it.

sounds like something must be loose in that one coil. If it isn't the connector pins, have someone hold the detector steady, take ahold of the coil and wiggle it. See if something inside the coil is causing the problem. Then wiggle the cable to see if it is where the cable enters the coil. If either result in the falsing, sounds like it is going to take a trip to Minelab repair. Just curious, what coil is it?
