Need some help with a floater under the screen

Mike Hillis

Well-known member
I just bought a used Xterra 305. It has a little piece of dried grass floating around under the screen. Normally this wouldn't bother me but I bought this for another person and I would like to remove it, or at the very least get it out of view.

I hesitate to lift the cover as I don't know how it's glued down, or how it would look after it was lifted.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Here are pics of my X-Terra 70 when I took it apart:

Nothing too complicated inside.
Seems like the screen was glued down.....but I can't remember for sure.

Thank you for the pictures, Mt_VertCaver.

I think I'm going to try some gentle vacuum in the battery compartment and headphone jack and see if I can pull it out of the display. Thats probably how it got there in the first place.

If you decide not to open the detector up and the vacuum does not work you may want to try the opposite. Take an air duster can and lightly puff some air in there. It might at least move the grass out of sight. Just be careful not to hold the trigger down for too long because those air cans can sometime produce a little condensation which might leave a little haze on the inside of the screen. A quick puff and 5 or 10 seconds between puffs will probably work just fine.
