Nel Tornado coil

Well I got a T2+ and a New Tornado coil and the coil would not Ground Balance at any setting or even manually. Was positive coil going towards the ground for 0 to 99. Anyone ever heard of this happening?

Have you tried manual Ground Balance on the all metal side?

I'm not sure what you mean by "Was positive coil going towards the ground for 0 to 99". Did you try a ground depth test with it ? I had a faulty Tornado once but I don't recall if it couldn't ground balance or not. I just remember that I had no depth with it. I knew something was wrong since it couldn't find anything past 2-3 inches. I couldn't get more than 4-5 inches in the air as well with any targets.

Did you try your T2+ with stock coil in the exact same area ?

By Positive, I mean the sound got louder as the coil was going to the ground while trying to ground balance it manually. I tried it in the yard and out on a farm.
It was giving false signals and bad IDs because it couldn't cancel the ground.

If the detector works properly with your other coils then it has to be a bad coil. I just have the stock coil and I rarely ever ground balance and the i.d. is always right and I never get any false signals.

I am wondering what you had your sensitivity set on. I had something similar to what you describe happen with my T2+ with stock coil attached yesterday. I had to back off the sensitivity to 60 in order to get it to ground balance right. After I was able to run my sensitivity up to 90-99 with out any problems.

Dang I guess it was a bad coil then. Are you getting another one of them? I was looking forward to your report on its performance.

They didn't have another one in stock. Got a refund. Might still get one later and try it again.
