NEL Tornado on T2 ?

SWMO Mark

New member
Has anyone tried the NEL 12x13" Tornado coil on their T2 ? Thinking about getting one, didn't know how much deeper they were compared to the stock 11" coil. Mark

Hey Mark I haven't had one for my T2 but had one on my Fisher F19 and it added 2" over the 11" DD bi-axial coil. I will probably get one for my T2 Classic before relic season starts. I am actually debating between it and the 10x12 SEF coil. But I haven't made my mind up yet. I have read that both coils are deep on the T2.

I use the SEF 12x10 and 15x12 coils on the T2 and both work very well,i also use the NEL Storm which is the next size up from the Tornado coil and theat is not only much deeper than the stock coil but also still very good on small targets as well.

The Tornado on the T2 is possibly the most popular combination of all the after market coils for this machine, but also the Mars Tiger coil is also another good coil as well.

Thanks for the info. I was guessing 2-3" increase with the Tornado over the stock coil. Any bigger than the 12"x13", you really don't get any increase in depth on small targets, just larger stuff. Hopefully I can get one soon, so I can get used to it before relic season in the fall. Mark

Hi Mark,

I use a T2 Classic with the Nel Tornado coil. I use it for Relics, coins, jewelry, and gold nugget hunting. This is a very stable and sensitive coil as well as light for it size. I found a 1898 v nickel with it last week. Have also found lots of military cuff and collar buttons with it. Taking it to Alaska next month to hunt tailing piles for gold. I would highly recommend this coil for anyone with the T2. I tryed to post pictures of the finds, but having trouble with the sizing.

Can't speak for the tornado coil, but the hunter coil I use is deeper than the stock coil for sure.

I really like the NEL Sharpshooter coil.

I don't have a T2 but an F5 but I do have a Detech 12 X 10 SEF coil and a Detech Ultimate as well. If you want to go Detech and want ultimate depth, get the Ultimate. It seems to separate just as well even though it's slightly larger.
