Neodymium Magnets, ever use them electronic prospecting?

:usmc:

So I'm not having to bend over so much, I have bought two N42 3/4" dia. X 1.8" inch thick w/counter sunk screw hole Neo magnets. They are rated at N42 each so it's my understanding when these magnets are doubled up, they are twice the strength. I'm going to grabber screw them both stacked to the end of a wood dowel shaft the same diameter and about 3 feet long. I'm also considering coating them and part way up the shaft with epoxy to make cleaning black sand and stuff from them easier.

I can not recall ever seeing any Posts here about using these rascals in aiding a detector in the search for Nuggets but maybe someone can share in some pro's and con's of using them. Thinking back and the loose material I was in, one of these would have saved bending over and some time considering how strong they are.

I wouldn't be without them. I have them on every pick I own. I have them coated with Goop (Household, Marine, ect.) to protect them from chipping and to make cleaning easier.
