New 15" WOT coil going well

Gday :ausflag:

Coilteks new 7.5khz 15" DD coil for my Xterra 70 is going well
in 4 outings of 3-4 hours it has half paid for itself
It locks onto our 41 and $2 coins beautifully and the TID no's are spot on...they dont vary on my desired targets ($1 + $2 coins)
and can pick out close together coins very well for such a big coil
Pinpointing is a breeze using the zig zag as your pull back method
It is lovely to swing and seems to just glide over the grass

so far I am a happy chappy

But...the only problem I have is it sounds off and locks onto aluminium and steel bottle tops and caps and rings with a lovely high tone
Personally I am a sucker for high tones ...to me they say dig me , dig me
So I have disc'ed out 42, 44, 46, and now I know I am missing silver but not wasting time on as many screwcaps
A friend (mick from Dubbo ) suggested that using the zig zag pinpoint method the steel caps will sound low as the coil disapears off the edge of the target but so far I can tell no difference to alumium caps which seem to ring high all the way through

Anyway, I thought you good people may want an early run down on so far with the WOT
happy swinging

G'day Terra.
That lowering tones works on the Steel crown caps. If you are in 99 tones then often an aluminium screw cap can give a lowering tone, but not always. Coins in 99 tones will either drop off without changing or drop a single tone, briefly. The VCO pinpoint helps pick the shallow screw caps, and you can try and play around with the prospecting mode. I almost crossed wires there. I took the SE Explorer out on the week end. Coins give a narrower pinpoint than screw caps.
I can think of a few places that the WOT would be very useful.
