New 6" DD EXcelerator EQ 2 Pro

Hey guys just I purchased a used 6" DD EXcelerator EQ 2 Pro coil that came a lower rod and mounting hardware for a good price. It should be here Thursday and can't wait to try it out. I have been using the stock 10 1/2 inch coil with my Quattro. I hear a lot of iron in the ground where I have been hunting and was wondering how many coins have been masked out by it. It should be interesting. Does any have an opinion on this coil?

John,
I will be interested in you opinion after using the 6" coin you are getting. Recently I was able to purchase a Minelab FBS 800 coil. I've tried it about three different times in a trashy area so I will be interested in comparing notes with you after you've had a chance to use yours.
Good luck with it,
Don

Sure no problem Don. Hopefully the weather stays nice enough that I can use it Thursday.

Hello Guys I received the coil today. My first impression was of the coil was "man this sucker is really small." I installed it on my Quattro and the first thing I notice was how much better balanced and lighter the detector was. I took the Quattro outside to the test garden and I was able hit a clad quarter and dime at 7 inches easy. One part of my yard has power lines that over it and I was able to run the sensitivity at 20 with no chattering, before with the Quattro's bigger stock coil I was able to run sensitivity to only about 12 or 13. Also I was to get within inches of my Son's swingset, with the larger coil I would need to stay feet away.

I had about an hour today to try it out. I took it to a place near where I live that was an old fair ground/baseball field. In the past 25 years I have pulled out everything from silver halves to silver dimes, silver war, buffalo, and V nickles, numerous wheat and Indian cents. This place has been hit hard over the years by me and other people. I wish that I could say that I found some old coins today but I can't. I did find 2 coins (copper memorial cent and nickle) that EXcelerator coil was able to sniff out in between the iron. On both coins I was able get a good signal one direction and when I turned the coil 90 degrees the Quattro would null out. I then went into all metal mode to check out the signals and I was able to here iron tone then coin tone. Both coins was found with iron in the hole and the copper memorial was down about 7 inches. Now I am thinking that this coil is a keeper. I can't wait to try this coil again.

I have found a few silver coins that only the 6" could get though to because of the bottle caps. Also its better in tight areas like park benches and tot lot equipment. I also have the 8x6 and find it works better for me in open areas. I tend to swing the 6" to fast. Still like the 11" Pro the best on my Safari.
