New 705 Owner

Smudge

I've been looking for my next metal detector fro awhile now and finally settled on the 705 with the standard 7.5 kHz 9" coil.

I also got the 6" 7.5 kHz coil since I mostly hunt for coins in trashy areas and I think this coil is going to get the most use.

Anyhow, re-rereading the manual now and hope to get out for awhile tomorrow.

Just wanted to say "hello" and Happy Hunting to all.

I think we're getting back into metal detecting weather again!

Be sure to download Digger's free ebook on the Xterra from the minelab site for additional info.

Welcome Smudge!

Looking forward to seeing pics of your finds and the stories behind them.

What general area of the planet do you exist?

Thanks for all the good wishes.

DirtAngler, one of the first things I did was download Digger's guidebook. I'm about halfway through and its very helpful, to say the least.

Longhair, I'm in Central Florida, about one hour from the Atlantic Ocean. Our soil here is definitely what you would consider mild, but its sand composition leads coins to sink pretty quickly over the years. So in this part of the state, if you want older coins, you'll need a detector that gets good depth.
