Hello Everyone.......Been out relic hunting this week, was able to add another 2.9 inch 10 pounder Parrot shell to my collection.
Found it Tuesday, was about one foot deep. I've know where the Federal artillery was set up for this battle and at what Confederate position they were firing at for sometime now.
Using Google earth and a new Garmin hand held GPS unit, along with Garmin Base Camp I was able to plot the flight paths of artillery shells that were aimed too high.
I found this shell 1.35 miles from where it was fired from. Way off the known battlefield. The Federal gunners had aimed high and this shell flew over top of the intended target
and came down along ways downrange. I was hunting that day with my Teknetics Omega detector fitted with a NEL Hunter coil and using Sennheiser RS 160 wireless headphones.
Here's some pictures from Tuesday.....

Awesome research led to a great recovery.
