New book on the MXT is now available.

I have an MXT and like it a lot! But I made the mistake of ordering the White's DVD for explaining use with the MXT, and was UNDERwhelmed. Nothing new in the DVD beyond what was in the written instructions, and in fact, the DVD is totally useless, in MHO. Wasted money... There should have been some ADVANCED tips or experience-learned techniques, but I never saw anything beyond the written instructions. So, is this what I should expect of the Newbook?

Obviously, I'm biased, but I believe "The MXT Edge" provides significantly more information, in more detail, than what is available anywhere else on the MXT.

Like my previous book, "Digging Deeper with the DFX," this book was written based not only on field experience, but also on objective lab tests and assistance from the engineering staff that designed the machine. David Johnson, the MXT design engineer, was very nice to provide detailed information for a wide range of technical questions on the instrument.

While the use and operation of the MXT is covered in detail, many optional "Tech Info" sections provide additional details for the more technical reader. Lab testing for this book includes "in mineralization" search coil performance tests that ranks the performance of the five available White's MXT search coils in different strengths of ferrous ground mineralization. There are details like a "GND to VDI number conversion table," specifics on the ground-balance "Cascade" effects hinted at in the MXT Engineering Guide, details on the mixed-mode audio used for the COIN & JEWELRY and RELIC modes (with bench test instructions in the appendix that details how to hear the mixed-mode feature first-hand), 3D coil sensitivity graphs that show search coil sensitivity patterns for both coin-sized and gold nugget-sized targets, info on recognizing progressively deeper target characteristics, tradeoffs of different discrimination patterns, and much more.

The synopsis available at http://www.fielddepth.com provides more info.

Enjoy.

Will be up at Alaska this year at Ganes Creek mine---this should help a lot---Could you sign the book for me ? Lots of luck---Jack

I hope you make some $$$ with your great idea and work. I had the DFX book too and it is the best book on that detector one can buy.

Best to you,
Andy,NM

Jeff, it sounds like The Edge and your new book might be what I had expected from Whites in the lamented video. I also found some good poins Chris Ralph @ www.ighunters.net/tutorial/mxt.htm. Good luck on your new book. I might just end up with both of them.
