I am new here I have to bounty IV and the fast tracker, only found a few things like pennies and a dime, hope to do more.

welcome dude. tracker IV is a very underrated machine. simple, yet effective. needle is useless really. just shows how hard a target is hitting. one trick i found that works pretty good on the tracker IV, lay a nickel on the ground and in disc mode, turn the disc up just so it accepts a nickel. that will cut out a lot of the junk. turn sensitivity up as much as you can without chatter. you will have fun with the tracker IV. happy hunting.

The Tracker IV is a great machine to learn on, and even as a backup later on....I have found though as I have grown into my detectors that manual ground balance control is a MUST, and you only get that if you go with the Land Star or higher in the BH lineup...Of course, this depends on your budget and hunting style...the Land Star costs anywhere from $180 used to about $300 new. if it is new, and does not come with both 4" and 8" coils, do not buy it, your getting robbed (They keep the 4" coil to sell separately for more cash on their end).
The suggestion of dropping the nickel and setting your DISC. to it, is a good one, and one I actually have not thought of (Thanks for the info.)...

Happy Hunting,

Hi, I own and operate 2 of these units, and will continue to do so until they die! They are great detectors for the price, especially with the 10" coil on the beaches. The needle is something worth forgetting about. You will be listening for tones, not looking at a needle. I run mine on tone disc, lowest setting and sensitivity at 4 oclock. If you want to maximise your jewelery recovery I reccomend this setting. I have found betwen $20,000 to $30,000 worth of jewelery and coins in 2 years. Great performance at low cost, you can't go wrong. HH, :)Nugget.
